Gillian Watson, Managing Director
Gillian joined Giltech as Chief Operating Officer in February 2007 and was appointed Managing Director on March 1st 2008. Since her appointment she has been instrumental in leading the restructuring of the business, demonstrating considerable managerial, directional and strategic capability and vision.
Gillian has an impressive pedigree in corporate finance, strategy and business development. Her career began with Morgan Stanley in London and later in Hong Kong. She then worked for Standard Chartered Asia Limited before leaving to attend INSEAD in France. Thereafter she joined the utility sector and had a ten year career in strategy and business development roles. Latterly, she was Director of Corporate Strategy for Endesa SA, one of Spain’s leading utility businesses, before returning to Scotland in late 2006.
In addition to her role with Giltech, Gillian currently serves as a Non-Executive Director on the board of Ayrshire and Arran NHS. Gillian has an honours degree in Mathematics from Edinburgh University and an MBA from INSEAD in France.
David Healy, R&D Director
David joined Giltech in 1988 to develop water soluble glass compounds and methods for their manufacture for use as controlled delivery and temporary structural applications in medical devices, implants, tissue engineering substrates and a variety of industrial and agricultural applications.
David has a BSc in Biochemistry, Physiology and Microbiology and obtained a Masters degree in Bioengineering whilst a student in the same department as Dr Tom Gilchrist, the founder of Giltech.
He has wide-ranging practical experience of medical device development and is responsible for technical aspects of the company’s research and development programmes and acts as liaison with subcontractors and clinical collaborators. His publications include 15 scientific papers and 26 patents.
Eilidh Gilchrist, Operations Director
Following an early career in the banking industry, Eilidh joined the company in 1990 and has been intimately involved in all aspects of the company’s management and operations for many years.
She has overall responsibility for financial operations and manages day to day financial management systems.
In addition, Eilidh is responsible for co-ordinating the activities of the teams working on individual customer projects and her publications include two patents.
